Conservative Hollywood Celebrities
A Comprehensive List of Famous Hollyood ConservativesBy Justin Quinn, About.com For just about as long as anyone can remember, liberalism has been the political ideology of choice in Hollywood. But that is slowly beginning to change.
In October 2008, director David Zucker, famous for his Airplane and Naked Gun movies, released An American Carol, a film that spoofs Hollywood liberalism and its most notorious propaganda artist, Michael Moore. The film starred a host of Hollywood conservatives, who 10 or 15 years ago would have lost their careers for such political blasphemy! But it isn't the film's plot that makes it such an important piece of cinema. It's what the film says about the conservative movement. By coming out with a clearly right-of-center film -- a comedy, no less -- Hollywood conservatives are saying they're willing to put their careers on the line to help the movement move into the light of day.
Below is a list of Tinseltown celebs who make no bones about their conservative commitments. The list is growing, and each week one of these Hollywood celebrities will be profiled -- complete with a breakdown of their conservative credentials. Some you'll know. Others might surprise you. Either way, enjoy ... and know that if you're a conservative, you're not alone (even though it might feel like it sometimes)! - Stephen Baldwin: Actor, Radio Personality

To Hollywood:Make films that honor heroes Having read the article "Iraq war films shoot blanks at box office", I would like to offer a reason I think these films fail that seems to escape Hollywood producers. Instead of the films failing because Americans aren't ready for such films, as Iraq is still too immediate, could it be because the filmmakers just don't get it? Instead of films championing the heroes and battles of this war — such as the battle of Fallujah, or even the story of Charlie Company, 1-26th Infantry, as in your publication — America is bombarded with films on the Iraq war that have a very anti-war, liberal bias to them. We get movies showing American soldiers as people who have to be pitied, who were taken advantage of by the system and who got caught up in events beyond their control. Even worse, as in the film "Redacted," we get American soldiers portrayed at their worst — as rapists, murderers and thieves. Maybe America wants to see their heroes portrayed as simply that by Hollywood — more would attend movies about Iraq. Maybe America has finally had it with liberal Hollywood producers putting their own anti-military, anti-war slant on films, and portraying American soldiers as lowlifes and crooks instead of the men and women they truly are. The film "Black Hawk Down" is a great example of a film about a modern military battle that took in millions of dollars at the theaters and presented the military in a positive light. Where is Iraq's version of "Black Hawk Down"? Surely some of the battles there have been worth retelling on the silver screen. So it isn't that America isn't ready for Iraq war films; it is that Hollywood has yet to make an Iraq war film that showcases America's military in a good light instead of the stereotypical "soldier" Hollywood has been portraying since the end of the Vietnam War. The solution is simple: Hollywood, produce a good movie about the Iraq war and more Americans will attend. Nobody wants to see soldiers portrayed as hoodlums and lowlifes no matter who is in the starring role. Staff Sgt. | Hugh Hewitt (born February 22, 1956) is an American radio talk show host extroidinaire, the liberals fear him the conservatives love him.,successful author and Patriot. An outspoken Conservative, he comments on society, politics, and the obvious media bias in the United States.
Hewitt is also a law professor at Chapman University School of Law and Executive Editor of Townhall.com. He is a native of Warren. Ohio
Professor Hewitt is best known as the host of his radio show, which has an audience estimated at more than 2 million listeners every week.!! .
Hewitt writes daily for his blog, HughHewitt.com, which is among the most visited political blogs in the U.S.
Biography
Hewitt attended JFK Catholic HS in Warren, Ohio, and, following that, Harvard, & cum laude with a BA in Government in 1978. After Harvard, he worked as a ghostwriter for Richard Nixon in CA and NY, before going to law school at the Iniversity of Michigan Law School where he was Order of the Coif. Hewitt received his JD degree in 1983, then moved to Washington DC to clerk for Judges Roger Robb and George MacKinnon on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 1983–1984.
Professor Hewitt served for nearly six years in the Reagan Administration in a variety of posts, including Assistant Counsel in the White House and Special Assistant to two Attorneys General. Since returning to California in 1989 to oversee the construction of the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, Hewitt has served as a member of the California Arts Council, the South Coast Air management District, and the Orange County Children and Families Commission.
When he left the library to practice law, Hewitt began a weekend radio talk show for the Los Angeles radio station KFI, where he broadcast from late 1990 to 1995. In the spring of 1992 he began co-hosting L.A.PBS member station KCET's nightly news and public affairs program, Life & Times, and remained with the program until the fall of 2001, when he began broadcasting his own radio show in the afternoons. Hewitt received three Emmys for his work on Life & Times on KCET, and also conceived and hosted the 1996 PBS series, Searching for God in America.
Hewitt became Executive Editor of TownHall.com in 2006, when Salem Communications purchased it and re-engineered it from a web magazine into a conservative new-media and activism forum. As well as blogging there, he writes a weekly column.
Hewitt also became a Professor of Law at Chapman University School of Law during that time. He currently teaches constitutional Law.Hugh is married to "the fetching Mrs. Hewitt," as he refers to her on the radio. They met at a fundraiser for Republican Pete Wilson.
Hewitt's nationally syndicated radio show, The Hugh Hewitt Show, is broadcast from Irvine from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET on weekdays. The show can be heard on more than 120 stations on weekdays and is syndicated by the Salem Radio Network.
Although Hewitt's background is in law, government, and politics, he also covers American cultural trends and frequently delves into the entertainment industry, offering movie reviews with "Emmett of the Unblinking Eye" every Friday evening. He frequently critiques the mainstream media on air, often inviting journalists to defend their work on the show. Interviews with Mark Halperin of ABC News and British historian Andrew Roberts lasted the entire three hour duration of the show.
Hewitt is a long-time proponent and promoter of what he, among an and many other conservative pundits, calls the new media-talk radio & blogs.— as a means to combat liberal bias in the mainstream media. His own blog was described as one of the five "best-read national conservative bloggers" in a 2007 memo from the NATL Republican Senatorial Committee
In early 2006, he wrote an article for the Weekly Standard titled "The Media's Ancien Régime", in which he outlined his belief that the idea of traditional journalism was being eroded by the ease of information facilitated by the Internet.
- There is [now] too much expertise, all of it almost instantly available now, for the traditional idea of journalism to last much longer. In the past, almost every bit of information was difficult and expensive to acquire and was therefore mediated by journalists whom readers and viewers were usually in no position to second-guess. Authority has drained from journalism for a reason. Too many of its practitioners have been easily exposed as poseurs.
A recurring theme on Hewitt's show is showing the mainstream media's liberal bias and lack of transparency, and the unwillingness of its members to answer questions about their own political beliefs. Hewitt has said that the modern paradigm of reportage, whereby journalists make a claim to objectivity while never answering questions about their own beliefs, allows a deep-seated culture of liberal media bias to be perpetuated. He is fond of saying that financial reporters are never allowed to write about companies in which they have an interest, while political reporters routinely refuse to answer questions that might reveal their own political positions and thus allow the reader to adjust for any bias, whether conscious or subconscious, that their reporting might contain. He credits the right-wing "blogosphere" with destroying the Presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry in 2004.
Hewitt will frequently invite members of the mainstream media on to his show and quiz them about their own political beliefs and why they think those beliefs should remain a secret. Eric Black of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Jelen Thomas of the White House Peace Corps and mark Halperinof ABC News, among others, have appeared on Hewitt's show and debated with him the question of whether they should be obliged to disclose their political beliefs. For example, during a 2006 exchange with Hewitt, long-time Washington Post Thomas Edsall gave his opinion that Democrats outnumbered Republicans 15-25 to 1 among members of the mainstream media.
Since writing the book A Mormon in the White House?, Hewitt's commentary on his radio program and blog in support of Republican candidate Mitt Romney led to the observation that he "found himself under suspicion of being a cheerleader for the Romney campaign." As soon as McCain won the Republic nomination, however, Hewitt turned his fire on Democratic nominee Barack Obama.
Hewitt’s passions are the Cleveland Browns and Indians, Ohio State and Notre Dame college football and running.

After winning the Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, Gwyneth Paltrow has been shamefully idle (Shallow Hal, anyone?) Even her latest film, Two Lovers, co-starring Joaquin Phoenix, premiered, depressingly unnoticed, at the Sunshine Cinema on New York’s Lower East Side.
But Gwyneth, who moved to London after declaring, “We’re all going to die when George Bush has his way,’’ is far from allergic to taking home our money. Nor is the lady bred in an exclusive Manhattan private school opposed to reinventing herself in a curiously American kind of career: lifestyle guru. Gwyneth has developed a website that is equal parts new age philosophy, serious commerce and whatever ramblings enter the star’s golden head. She is e-mailing related newsletters that recommend exorbitantly priced American restaurants – chef Mario Batali is a fave – push pricy products and plug hotels in which a standard room begins at $695 a night. She’s also shilling for a yoga gym she’s planning to open. The site is called Goop.com – a name based on Gwyneth’s initials, GP. It is heavy on Kabbalah musing with its mantra, “Nourish the inner aspect,’’ whatever than means. It even – hold onto your lunch – describes the very icky effects of Gwyneth’s personal detoxifying diet. That is why I’m naming her my Celebutard of the Week, in keeping with my book, Celebutards: The Hollywood Hacks, Limousine Liberals and Pandering Politicians Who Are Destroying America. (Kensington.) Gwyneth, who blames her age — 36 – for the dearth of recent roles (Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep might differ), has developed a site aimed appallingly at women who have the time, money and will to give up essential caffeine and shop all day – or rather, hire someone out to shop for them. The Toronto Globe and Mail wrote, “Why is it called ‘Goop’? Perhaps ‘Any Old Load of Rubbish’ and “Learn From Me, Ungrateful Peasant,’ were both taken.’’ Even the ordinarily fatuous New York Times called the site “fatuous and a bit puzzling’’ in a recent piece, which sent Gwyneth into orbit. She said in response, “I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it don’t really get it, because if they did, they would like it. I think that people like to stay in their box. They like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them.’’ Oprah, of course, is agog at Gwyneth’s post-pregnancy workout, which the faded star displayed on the O’s television program. In the meantime, Gwyneth has signed on to write a cookbook (can you say, organic?) Food is much on Gwyneth’s mind these days, a year after she underwent a “Master Cleanse’’ (lots of lemon water and little else) and was promptly taken overnight by her husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, to Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. (She blamed a mysterious “gastrointestinal’’ ailment for the hospitalization.) Her post-holiday cleanse this year was far less punishing, including chicken and smoothies, but no dairy or cappuccinos. I never thought I’d read these words coming from the aristocratic Gwyn’s hand. But here is it is: “If your bowel movements get sluggish, you can accelerate things by drinking half a cup of castor oil or using a mild herbal laxative. Bowel elimination is paramount for correct detoxification.’’ Sluggish bowel movements aside, Gwyneth, who once declared America too dangerous for her kids, Apple and Moses, seems to be tiring of London. She whined to Marie Claire magazine that the city is too dirty, the weather atrocious, and the service not up to her standards. “My husband thinks I’m way too obsessed with cleanliness and germs. I’m just like, ‘The street is filthy, could we take off our shoes before we come into the house?’ He used to imitate me and say, “Ewwww, oh my Gold!’ Also, the customer service is just rubbish in England. People are much more relaxed there, and things take forever to get done. They’ll tell you it’ll take two weeks for your Internet service to be fixed! It drives me mad. And I miss being able to get anything at any time of day. You can’t do that there.’’ I suppose it’s time for Gwyneth to move back to America. But does America really need a Gwyneth Paltrow?
That's right ... Dennis Hopper! Like many conservatives, Hopper did ultimately vote for Barack Obama (which he said was really a vote against Sarah Palin), after initially throwing his support to GOP candidate John McCain in early 2005. Hopper hasn't said much about the election since November, other than to express his concern about the economy.
Unfortunately, Hopper's vote and public endorsement for Obama in October has generated most of the two-time Academy Award nominee's recent headlines. Some digging around, however, reveals more information about the 25-year Republican, who said at one time he was "as liberal as you could get without being a Communist."
Hopper starred in two conservative films in 2008 -- Swing Vote and An American Carol. Not blockbuster movies, to be sure, but not a bad start for Hollywood conservatives who've been relegated to the shadows of Tinseltown for time out of mind.
From the profile: "The controversy about me," Hopper said in 2005. "I don't think it's going to stop me. However, a lot of people treat me differently, and they do bring it up. I'll be at a dinner party, and somebody will say, 'Well, you couldn't be thinking that ...' And then you realize that everybody at the table is looking at you, and they're like, 'You're kidding! You're not really for Bush.' And it goes around the table. It can only stop me from eating, not working."
OCA EYE ON: Kristin Chenoweth Not afraid to tell Hollywood she is no way a Liberal.
Talented and old school: actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth brings faith to song and stage. When Kristin Chenoweth was preparing for her Carnegie Hall concert debut in January 2006, she drew comfort from a rosary given to her by fellow "West Wing" actor Martin Sheen, that's not something she learned growing up in the First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow, Okla. But she drew strength from the faith it represents and now carries it in her purse. He said, 'I know you're not Catholic, but keep it near you,' "she said of Mr. Sheen, who had received the rosary from the pope. "He said, 'If you get nervous, hold on to it.' I feel a special closeness with him. He's old school and I gravitate to people who are old school." That's probably because Ms. Chenoweth is rather old school herself. With her strong conservative Christian faith, she stands out in show business as much for what she professes as for her considerable gifts, which include Tony Award-winning talent and a gorgeous four-octave voice. she is putting her faith and talent together in a whole new way. People told me it's a brave thing to do, but it's not brave," she said. "It's just natural." Natural, maybe, for someone who was singing solos in church at 7 and who sang solo before 10,000 people at a Baptist convention when she was 12. But not so natural for someone starring on Broadway, on TV and in feature films. My agents and managers said, 'You will take hits. You have to decide what you believe,' and I said 'I know what I believe.' I'm an actress and a singer and I'm also a Christian. The CD, among the top five on Christian charts since it debuted, has found favor not only with Christians but many nonbelievers, as Ms. Chenoweth hears at signings. One memorable encounter was with a Jewish woman who said she had never had faith, but when she heard Ms. Chenoweth singing she believed it was possible. Ms. Chenoweth stays centered by attending church--Methodist in New York and nondenominational in Los Angeles--and reading a devotional book before bed. She thanks her parents in her CD notes for "instilling the faith in Him that I still carry with me every day. Faith in God is the most precious gift any parent could give their child." She said she hopes her life and work will enrich others' lives. "If I die tomorrow, I want people to say, 'She was a good example. She lived what she believed.'" Kristin Chenoweth joins David E. Kelley's 'Legally Mad' series Dec 2008, 12:00 PM | by Mandi Bierly Categories: Deals, Television, Waiting First of all, I love that David E. Kelley isn't even pretending that his new NBC legal drama, Legally Mad, will have sane characters. Secondly, I love Variety's description of the role Pushing Daisies' Kristin Chenoweth has just been cast in: "Skippy Pylon, a cheerful and brilliant attorney who nonetheless exhibits flashes of psychosis -- and enjoys being mistaken for a teenager." Skippy takes a job at her father's Chicago law firm. Perhaps there's an opening (or at least a guest spot) for someone whose last employer was Chang Poole & Schmidt? Are you in, or are you out?
Who Rocked For The GOP In 08? Who Rocked It For Republicans in 08? Most musicians are right-wingers , its in their blood: Patriotism Check out some of the awespme supporters of the GOP in 2008. These popular music stars have openly identified themselves as Republicans or Libertarions. Although it differs from the Republican Party in some areas, Libertarianism is a big component of the GOP, with figures such as Ronald Reagan having declared, “The very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism.”
TED NUGENT
Ted Nugent performing for troops in Iraq - 2004
Ted's humanitarian and patriotic efforts has earned him numerous commendations from state police, sheriff departments, FBI and police agencies nationwide . . . and he has been lauded for his Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids, his work as a national spokesman for D.A.R.E, and for his work with the U.S. Military.
Look out liberals, "The Nuge" is back -- locked, cocked, and ready to "rock" your world! Teds Hot Selling Book: Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifestoby Ted Nugent
You don't have to be fan of rock music to love rocker/hunter Ted Nugent. You just have to be share the unabashed patriotism and "rock"-solid conservative values that come through in his music (over 30 million records sold) and bestselling books (including God, Guns, and Rock 'N' Roll and Kill It & Grill It, his wildly successful cookbook). Now comes the Motor-City Madman's wildest, most politically incorrect book yet. In Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto, "The Nuge" lays out his plan for defending red-blooded, full-throated Americanism against pantywaist politicians, nanny-state judges, and tofu-eating Obamamaniacs -- calling on readers to "Roll up your damn sleeves, sharpen your crowbars, and think hardcore." In Ted, White, and Blue you'll discover: - Why war is the answer to so many of our current problems
- Why if Ted were a Mexican, he'd start a revolution (and how, since he's not, we can control our own borders)
How to put Uncle Sam on a diet (a "waste-watchers program" for Big Government) - The Ted Plan for energy independence by 2018 -- how to keep America rockin' into the future
- How to change the world for the better through the power of God, guns, and rock 'n' roll
If you care about America, if you want to preserve, protect, and defend the land of the free and the home of the brave, if you're fed up with lazy, whining, fear- mongering, government-gorging Al Gores, Michael Moores, and Barack Obamas, then you need to read Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto. "You’re gonna love this!" -- Gov. Mike Huckabee"Some are attracted to Ted Nugent for his lifestyle of conservation management, others for his political courage, and many more for his rock 'n' roll. For me, it's all three. Nuge has had me in a stranglehold for years, and his musings in Ted, White, and Blue will keep me on his tour bus for many more." -- Michael Smerconish, Philadelphia's number one radio talk show host "Ted Nugent is the closest thing to a human tornado I've ever met. He lives life at mach speeds, boldly pouring himself into matters deeply personal to him. His efforts to support U.S. troops wounded in the defense of freedom and his selfless devotion to children with life-threatening illnesses are just two indications of the gentle heart that beats beneath the surface of this wild-eyed warrior. His story is as American as rock and roll and as inspirational as Horatio Alger. I hope Ted, White, and Blue opens your eyes to the challenges of our times and the limitless opportunity in our country. I pray it encourages you to live life boldly and in the spirit of the wild! -- Governor Rick Perry "The media look at Ted Nugent as an extreme right- wing, self-serving, gun-toting, uncaring, kill-'em-all redneck. Truth is Ted just has endless energy when it comes to talking about productivity, responsibility, and ways to become a better citizen. Uncle Ted's rule book is a very demanding agenda for the average human to live by. But then again, Nuge is not your average bear." -- Toby Keith "I love Ted's music, his message, and his unapologetic, manly approach to life. If you like words carefully and slowly simmered with a sweet sauce, you'll hate this book. If you like a message that's fresh, rare, and highly seasoned, and pure meat, you're gonna love this! Rock on!" -- Governor Mike Huckabee

GENE SIMMONS Best known as the fire breathing, blood spitting and lead singer of the band KISS, Simmons was actually born with the name Chaim Witz in Halfa, Israel of Hungarian background and moved to New York as a child, Once considered being a Rabbi, was an elementay school teacher until he formed the rock group KISS. Calls himself a Libertarian, Gene has stood up against other celebrities who have insulted President Bush and our troops. Gene Simmons continued his assaults on other artist he feels are “giving aid and comfort to the enemy”. Simmons singled out two artists he would no longer support: Pearl Jam and the Dixie Chicks. Simmons feels that Pearl Jam’s anti-Bush antics on stage would cost the band in the end. A few fans walked out of a concert in Denver following an anti-bush tirade from the stage from Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder. Simmons warns, "I don't think everybody that booed will stop buying PEARL JAM records or going to PEARL JAM concerts, but I do know that a segment of the audience will stop. I'm one. I've bought PEARL JAM records. I'm out. He crossed the line." "America is made up of people who have the right to buy or not buy your stuff for any reason they choose, and if what you stand for and who you are incenses them, they have a right to not put money in your pocket," Simmons said. "For example, I have female fans. If I get up there and say something very sexist, the female fans have a right, because their sense of who I am was insulted, to not put money in my pocket. ... Nobody is curtailing Tim Robbins' rights. However, if a Tim Robbins movie came out today - and I've seen some of his other movies and I've enjoyed them — would I go see it? No." Simmons also says that he had pulled a past planned feature on the Dixie Chicks from his magazine, Gene Simmons Tongue. "In time of war, to aid and give comfort to the enemy on foreign soil, on stage and in a public forum is perfect fodder for anybody's press overseas that has a slightly different agenda, and I think it's reprehensible. And just because you're cute and have D-cups doesn't mean it's any less reprehensible." Gene said: "I often don't agree with the Republican Party's stance on air, water, big business, Roe v. Wade, ad infinitum," Simmons explains. "But in time of war, it's time to cut it out, or we're not here. Gene is a patriot and loves our troops watch the patriotism live in action in the video below: Rocker Gene Simmons Honors Our Troops And Our Country:
ALICE COOPER Alice Cooper poses at the site of his planned teen youth center at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. The center's construction will be funded by donations from Cooper's Solid Rock Foundation. Most have no idea, Cooper is a Christian and avid golfer! Alice Cooper - shock rocker, conservative Republican, Christian!Cooper, whose real name is Vincent Damon Furnier, is reportedly a strong Republican who joins Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., at NBA games in Phoenix. Cooper is proud to say he is Republican and votes Republican, thats all he wants to say on the issue, Cooper attacked other Rockers who got in the political scene and supported Kerry, he said music is escapism and should not have politics in it...period. Cooper said " And now it's much easier to entertain the audience. To me, that whole shock-rock thing was over when CNN became more shocking than rock ‘n' roll. You know, when I cut my head off onstage, and it looks really real with this guillotine, and "Wow!" -- in 1970, no parent wanted their kid to see that, of course. But when you turn on CNN and there's a guy really getting his head cut off, that's when I'm sitting there shocked. That's when I realized I'm not in the business of "shock-rock" anymore. I'm just in the business of good old vaudeville, burlesque rock ‘n' roll." Well, it's fascinating in the fact that the two are so separate. The Alice Cooper character and...you know, my lifestyle, are just so apart. They're as far apart as Sir Anthony Hopkins and Hannibal Lector." Cooper is an avid golfer Story on Cooper: Alice Cooper to build Christian teen centerRocker hopes Arizona facility will teach kids values of ‘boundaries’PHOENIX - For all the envelope-pushing Alice Cooper has done as a shock rocker, he also knows the value of boundaries, especially for children. “Kids love boundaries. We used to fight against them. But in all reality, what we really did want was to know where we could go. Of course, you always step over the line just a little bit to see what’s going to happen,” said the 58-year-old rocker, known for his ghoulish makeup and hits such as 1975’s “Welcome to My Nightmare.” Cooper said his Christian, nonprofit Solid Rock Foundation has begun fundraising efforts for a 20,000-square-foot teen activity center to be called The Rock, to be built at Grand Canyon University in West Phoenix. The $3 million center will feature a recording studio, indoor basketball courts, rock-climbing walls, coffeehouse, game room and concert hall. Construction is expected to begin next year. “People don’t lay in the sun in southwest Phoenix. There’s lots of shootings going, there’s lots of meth going on, there’s lots of gangs,” Cooper said. “In the middle of all that is a bunch of 12-, 13-, 14-year-old kids that can go one way or the other.” Officials for Grand Canyon University, a private college with a Christian focus, came to Cooper with the offer to build the youth center on the campus. Cooper has given scholarships to the school for more than five years. “We’re not going to beat them over the head with a Bible,” Cooper said. “But we’re certainly going to be available to tell them that that’s available to them.” Cooper, who spends about seven months of the year at home in suburban Paradise Valley, said that when he walks off the stage, “I’m going back to Phoenix, play golf, work on Solid Rock, go shopping and do everything that a father and a husband’s supposed to do.” “I watched all of my best friends — Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Keith Moon — every one of them, die trying to live their image,” he said. “The one thing that my generation learned was ‘be a rock star when it’s time to be a rock star.”’ "By the way, you have to be worried when a guy with too much mascara and a snake wrapped around his neck has a keener grasp of basic new millennium geopolitics than so many leading lights of the Democratic Party."
SAMMY HAGAR
Red Rocker Sammy Hagar visits St. Louis Public School students, donates money to Blessings in a Backpack food program GOP's use of "Right Now" Lead Sammy Hagar and Eddie Van Halen to have a disagreement on wther the GOP could use their hit Van Halen Song. McCain and Co. for blasted their tune “Right Now” at a rally in Dayton, Ohio. “Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given [to use the song],” Alex and Eddie Van Halen said in a statement. But not every Van Halen member agreed. “I got goosebumps from it — my fur went up,” says the band’s ex-frontman,Sammy Hagar, who co-wrote and sang the song — “Why didn’t [Van Halen] say no when Pepsi Cola gave us a million dollars to use the song in a Pepsi Light commercial?” asks Hagar. “That’s when you say no. That isn’t the message of this song.” But when a potential future president is using it to bring a message to the world, he says, “I’m going, ‘Hell, yes!’”
Hollywood's Dirty Little Secret
Angie Harmon w/Nancy Reagan While Hollywood is still light-years away from being a conservative town, more and more right-leaning celebrities are finding their way into tinseltown's mainstream.
Outright conservative activism is still frowned upon widely by Hollywood Hills executives and most of the film industry still produces liberal-leaning movies and television shows, but there are celebrities willing to swim against the stream while holding tight to their conservative principles.
Following is a partial list of confirmed Hollywood conservatives who deserve recognition for their unwavering committiment to the conservative cause (click on their names to see one of the three credible sources I used to determine whether they were, in fact, conservatives worthy of inclusion on the list): - Ben Stein, author and former gameshow host
- Kelsy Grammer, former star of Cheers, Frasier and Back to You
- Healther Locklear star of Melrose Place and Spin City
- Patricia Heaton, star of Everybody Loves Raymond and Back to You
- Robert Duvall, film actor
- Sylvester Stallone, star of the Rocky movies
- Tom Selleck, former Magnum P.I. star
- John Voigt, film actor
- Drew Carey, host of The Price is Right
- Kurt Russell, film actor
- Ted Nugent, rock star
- John Stossel, host of ABC's 20/20
- Angie Harmon star of Law & Order
- Elizabeth Hasselbeck, co-host of The View
This list by no means "outs" the celebrites mentioned. In every case, the listed celebrity has made public remarks or donated money to a politically conservative cause. Anyone wishing to submit more celebrities to this list isencouraged to do so, but three credible sources must also be submitted for verification for them to be included on the list.
Though it has been many years since liberals were hunted and, in some cases, falsely accused of being communists by the likes of Sen. Joe McCarthy, Hollywood has become an unfriendly place for conservatives. If, however, more conservatives show themselves to be friendly, socially responsible people, perhaps the tinseltown mentality won't be so exclusionary.

 | Hollywood Conservatives Encouraged to Come Out of the Closet
Actor Kelsey Grammer is a conservative. A once-timid group of social outcasts is emerging from the shadows in Hollywood. If the past year is any indication, Tinseltown may have to get accustomed to the loud presence of a growing minority. After years of silence, conservatives are coming out of the closet. Andrew Breitbart, the conservative founder of Breitbart.com and author of "Hollywood Interrupted: Insanity Chic in Babylon," is launching a Web site he hopes will help challenge the status quo in what he believes has been a one-party, left-tilting town. Set to debut on Jan. 6, "Big Hollywood" will be a place where center, right and libertarian-leaning celebrities and industry-insiders can weigh in on Hollywood politics, offer film, television and movie reviews, and have an open forum for political discussion. "Our goal," says Breitbart, who lives in Los Angeles, "is to create an atmosphere of tolerance — something that does not exist in this town." Breitbart has invited a number of conservative politicians, commentators and journalists to write regularly about the cult of celebrity, liberalism in popular culture, and politics. Among the names who will be contributing, he says, are Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va), political commentator Tucker Carlson, and former Tennessee Senator and Republican presidential contender Fred Thompson.. The site will also feature the punditry of some well-known Hollywood actors, directors, producers, and writers, Breitbart says. As celebrities like Jon Voight, Gary Sinise, Charlton Heston, Patricia Heaton, Stephen Baldwin and Kelsey Grammer came out publicly with their political ideas over the past few years, the news that there were, in fact, conservatives in Hollywood, had many wondering who would be next. Recently, there have been rumors that Robert Downey Jr. is a closet Republican, though his publicist will neither confirm nor deny it, saying only, "We unfortunately have no comment, as RDJ does not comment on political matters." But Breitbart says the goal of Big Hollywood is not to "out" conservative celebrities, and he will not pressure celebrities like Downey to jump into the fray. He says conservative celebs who aren't comfortable with full transparency will be allowed to write under an alias. "I want them to come on their own volition," he says. "'Big Hollywood is going to have to be a compelling daily read that speaks to Hollywood conservatives' unique burden before some will stick their necks out and choose to speak up for what they believe." Sticking their necks out has not always been good for business. Mark Vafiades, president of the Hollywood Congress of Republicans, says, "I'm hoping that one day politics won't make a difference in Hollywood. But because there is still subtle intolerance here, conservatives remain somewhat shy. "If you come to an audition wearing a Bush or McCain button, the casting director will most likely pick another actor. Just being on a set you hear people bashing Bush and the right, because they assume everyone agrees." Some have suggested the purported anti-conservative tilt in Hollywood is overstated — if it exists at all. Perez Hilton, the self-proclaimed "Queen of All Media" and author of his eponymous gossip site, said, "I think Hollywood is very tolerant. They may mock you for your political beliefs, but at least they'll do it to your face! "It won't ever interfere with people getting a job. Kelsey Grammer still works!" But some conservatives in the entertainment industry say there may not be a literal blacklist in Hollywood, but there is pressure to keep silent. "Conservatives don't necessarily have to be covert about their politics, but in many cases they are because the liberals aren't fair and balanced towards those with differing points of view," says Jerry Molen, the Oscar-winning producer of big Hollywood hits like "Schindler's List," "Jurassic Park" and "Rain Man." "In too many cases, conservatives are immediately labeled racist, homophobic, bigoted, hateful, demonic, or even un-American without the benefit of debate, and are locked out of the hiring process, with a few exceptions." But the doors may be slowly opening "An American Carol," a conservative parody that lampooned liberal Hollywood this year, galvanized conservative celebrities like Robert Davi, Dennis Hopper, Kevin Farley, Voight and Grammer, all of whom had roles in the film. And conservative film festivals, including the American Film Renaissance and the Liberty Film Festival, have also helped bring to market conservative projects that a few years ago might have had a difficult time getting made. Some industry insiders credit John McCain with helping to embolden Hollywood conservatives during this year's presidential election. Andrew Klavan, a conservative author and screenwriter of psychological thrillers including True Crime and Don't Say A Word, said, "For people who had a lot to lose, McCain gave them some cover. He wasn't a true Republican like Bush was. He was someone even the left liked, whereas Bush was demonized. Hollywood conservatives could support McCain without necessarily supporting the GOP." Klavan suggested that a spate of recent political movies like "Rendition" and "Redaction" also strengthened the conservative cause. "These movies are genuinely anti-American. Never before have we had anti-war movies made while our troops were at war. Many people like me were ashamed of the industry, and there's been a bit of a backlash." Vafiades says increasing numbers of conservatives have joined his organization in the past year, and more organizations like his are sprouting up. But hush-hush groups like "Friends of Abe," a secretive society of Hollywood conservatives, still operate well under the radar. And the increased spotlight on conservative celebrities has not changed the political climate as much as Breitbart, Vafiades, Molen and Klavan would like. They say liberal celebrities still have an easier time "being political" than conservatives do. "Sean Penn is out dancing with dictators, and no one gives him flak. Instead they give him Oscar nominations," says Klavan. "Jon Voight may have some semblance of job security, but he still has to be careful about what he says." Monday, January 05, 2009 By SE Cupp
The Jonas Brothers THEY are pals with the world’s most powerful man, President GEORGE W BUSH.
They have sold more than two million records worldwide. They are committed virgins They are the JONAS BROTHERS, the biggest pop phenomenon on the planet right now. You may not be fully aware of American siblings KEVIN, 20, JOE, 19, and NICK, 15. If not, ask your young kids. With a raft of Disney-backed movies, TV shows and computer games in the pipeline starring the trio, soon you will not be able to avoid the Jonas Brothers. Rhe e three boys were raised in a deeply conservative Christian household in New Jersey and have incorporated their devotion to the Almighty into a staggeringly successful career in the notoriously moral-free music industry. All currently single, the wholesome trio are focused on their work and determined not to let lusting after girls interfere with their bid for global domination. Kevin says: “We love to date, we really do, but it’s almost impossible with our schedule. “We’re on the road at least 265 days a year so forming any significant relationship with someone is too difficult.” Frustratingly for the millions of early-teenage girls who make up the majority of their fan base, Kevin adds: “We really wouldn’t want a girl we dated to be a fan.” Their fundamentalist Christian faith has also led them to vow not to have pre-marital sex. They all wear “purity rings” to signify their commitment to their promise. The trend started in America in the early Nineties and sprang from Christian-affiliated sexual abstinence groups. Millions of purity rings are worn by devout US Christian teens on the left ring finger. The ring is only removed when it is replaced with a wedding band. Kevin explains: “The rings are a constant reminder to live a life with values. “It’s a personal thing. Chastity is an interesting term. Wearing these rings is a private decision we made. “It’s a constant reminder, like putting a string around your finger to remember to wash your car or take your dog for a walk.” They have received bashing from Hollywood. Much of his Jonas-bashing is unrepeatable but it reached a crescendo of crudeness with a reference to the US President’s imminent departure from the White House. While they won’t go out of their way to fit Hollywood Liberals into their busy schedules, the boys do make exceptions for the US President. The trio have performed at the White House three times and are becoming regulars in the Oval Office. Kevin reveals: “President Bush is a really cool guy. “He knows the lyrics to our songs and the last time we were there he was quoting them all back to us. He told me he really liked a pair of pink shoes I was wearing one time I visited.”
The Jonas Brothers are spearheading a British invasion which is masterminded by the Disney machine. string of clean-living and groomed artists such as MILEY CYRUS, HILARY DUFF and VANESSA HUDGENS have made waves since finding fame in Disney films such as High School Musical.
The youngsters all release their music through the Disney-backed Hollywood Records. The Jonas Brothers are the latest in that line. Their first movie, Camp Rock, became the Disney Channel’s most watched non-sequel film when it premiered early this year. Its UK premiere was held at London’s Royal Festival Hall this week and the boys were greeted by hundreds of screaming girls. There is a list of new projects in the offing, including a reality TV show, comedy series, a 3D film and even a computer game. Kevin says: “Our dreams are coming true. Whatever success comes is really just an honour. “In the next year we will finish our TV show, do a couple of movies, including Camp Rock 2, then hit the overall world tour, which will include all markets.” Not bad going for a band who, just 18 months ago, were staring into oblivion after being dumped by previous recording label Columbia Records. Kevin explains: “There were definitely moments when we weren’t sure if we could continue doing this. I started making music when I was young but I never thought I would do anything with my brothers. “Three years ago we got signed to Columbia but they got rid of us fairly quickly. That was a horrible time. We came close to giving up. “We moved over to Hollywood Records and it’s been this huge upward curve ever since.” The trio’s first release under Hollywood Records, a self-titled album, has sold an astonishing 1.4million copies worldwide. Its follow-up, A Little Bit Longer, which comes out in the UK on Monday, has already shifted more than a million copies in their homeland. The operation is a genuine family affair. Their pastor father, KEVIN JONAS SNR, manages them. Mom DENISE, a sign language teacher, follows them on the road, as does their seven-year old brother FRANKIE, who is known as “Bonus Jonas”. Now boys, remember you’re wearing those purity rings... |
